Sulfuric acid-d2, or deuterated sulfuric acid (D2SO4), is the deuterium-labelled form of sulfuric acid. Deuterated sulfuric acid is mainly used in the pharmaceutical and electronic industry. Sulfuric acid-d2 may be employed in specific chemical reactions where the presence of deuterium is desirable. Concentrated D2SO4 is often used for acidic H/D exchanges of hydrogen atoms in different types of aromatic compounds. D2SO4 solutions can also be used in 1H-NMR spectroscopy to generate protonated species.
